This print is part of Colm's Monumental Activity series. Using only lines and tone and working with a limited palette, he has explored reinterpreting traditional landscape imagery. His interest in this subject stems from a love of landscape painting and in particular late Impressionist landscapes. In the way that groups such as the Nabi wanted to get back to nature with their almost savage approach to painting, Colm wanted to explore the other side of nature. The side that is not seen in traditional landscape art, the natural disasters, the volcanic eruptions, the undexes.
